Colleen Van Rooy
Having hearing loss has changed my life, I would answer questions that have never been asked. I would bluff my way thru a conversation so that they don’t have to repeat themselves. I would answer incorrectly because I misheard words. Growing up with hearing loss, I was very quiet, shy and somewhat anxious. I have profound hearing loss and I often found myself isolated in social situations. I would sit by myself and not talk to others because I knew I was not going to hear them. I would withdraw socially in noisy environments and miss out on all the fun. Does this sound like you? If so, please join us. Many people find comfort and support in connecting with others going through similar experiences. I am a board member of the Wisconsin State Hearing Loss Association of America as well as the Fox Valley HLAA chapter in Appleton. I am a co-founder of Hear in the Fox Cities, providing financial assistance for hearing aids for children up to age 21. And I am a Master Phone Installer for CaptionCall, helping others hear and connect again.
